What is sustainable toys?
"Toys made of wood" is often the first answer and this is partly true. Wood is a natural product that is strong and has a long lifespan. Unfortunately, there are also forests that are not cut down responsibly and are not replanted. Since forests are disappearing at a record pace in our world, it is important to be critical of wooden toys, the FSC label helps you to choose toys that are made from sustainable forestry.
As more people emphasize ecological products, more and more sustainable plastic brands are emerging where the toys are made from recycled materials or are very strong and have a long lifespan. For example, Lego is a very sustainable brand, precisely because it lasts for decades.
What do we pay attention to at BonoboBox?
- Toys that are age-appropriate and therefore safe for certain ages, especially nice if products use soy paint, for example (wooden book BonoboBox 9 months).
- If possible, products with an eco/FSC label (such as the Quercetti Playbio ball track)
- A long lifespan: by this we mean toys that children can play with for a long time, toys that can even be passed on to future generations! Open-ended toys and toys with different play possibilities are essential here.
